Cource Overview
You will spend time learning the theory and developing practical skills in anatomy. Foundations in physiotherapy subjects are learnt in kinesiology and kinesiotherapy, where they imbibe the concept that movement is an essential element of health and wellbeing. You will also learn basic concepts of electrotherapy and revise their knowledge of physics i.e. Mechanics, Electricity, Water, Sound & Light and learn to apply it on human body in understanding movements and e various physiotherapeutic modalities in the subject Electrotherapy. Professional Practice and ethics will give you the knowledge of ethical code of professional practice, as well as its moral & legal aspects. You will be examined at the end of year one.
Internship
A period of 6 month (26 weeks) of continuous clinical practice to enhance clinical reasoning, You will gain experience on a range of diverse and with a wide range of patient groups under the guidance of skilled physiotherapy staff. You may be working within a hospital environment or within community-based environments.
Rotatary postings in outpatient department, indoor admissions and intensive care units in areas of musculaskeletal, cardiopulmonary, adult, and pediatric neurology, general medical and surgical conditions, burns, obstetrics and gynecology and community postings will be given. Those candidates declared to have passed the final year examination in all subjects shall be eligible for internship.
Internship will be completed in a teaching hospital recognized by the University. The final completed scientific manuscript of the scientific project will be submitted before completion of internship. Viva on the project will be conducted. Successful candidates will then be issued an internship completion certificate subject to satisfactory performance during clinical posting and research project. Degree Certificate will be issued during convocation ceremony of DCPIHS to those candidates who have successfully completed their internship.
Year 1

Year 2
You will be introduced to para-clinical subjects-Pathology and Microbiology that deal with understanding of altered physiology and etiology of the same. You get oriented to various Pharmacotherapeutic agents used along with their effects by studying Phyrmacology. Also study about normal and altered human mind & behavior by studying psychology & Psychiatry. In the subject kinesiology you acquire knowledge of Biomechanics as applicable to human body in the context of kinetics & kinematics of joints, movements & daily activities and treatment techniques using different fields of thought which are practiced on models, In the subject of kinesiotherapy and electrotherapy, you will learn application of strength testing and training & uses of various exercise methods, electrotherapeutic and electro diagnostic modalities like low frequency and medium frequency currents on models.
Year 3
You acquire knowledge of clinical subjects like Orthopedics, General surgery, Medicine, Neurology , pediatrics, Dermatology & Gynecology & Obstetrics, Community Medicine and Sociology and principles of international Classification of functioning and disability (I.C.F.) and its applicability in context to movement dysfunctions. Students will learn the physiotherapeutic evaluation skills including electro diagnosis on patients in Musculoskeletal, Neuromuscular, Cardiovascular & Respiratory dysfunction. You will also acquire knowledge of various specialized manual therapy and neurodevelopmental techniques and practice these skills on models under the subject of functional diagnosis and physiotherapeutic skills.
Year 4
You continue to learn Physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation in various musculoskeletal, neurological & cardiovascular-respiratory dysfunctions in hospital and community settings. You will also acquire knowledge about biomechanical principles & application of variety of aids & appliances used for ambulation, protection & prevention by studying Bioengineering and biotechnology. The principles of Hospital Administration, Management & Marketing will be studied separately. You will further learn the knowledge of Research Methodology and Biostatistics and prepare the protocol till the methodology for the scientific project to be conducted during internship. Last 6 months of fourth year will be dedicated to maximizing clinical hands – on training.
